Brevity is also the nature of the Open Thread. My agenda for the holiday weekend is thus:
- Today – drive to Whistler with relatives. Find bar.
- Saturday – whale watching tour with relatives. Hit bar upon return to dry land.
- Sunday – niece’s birthday party. Five-pin bowling. Beer in plastic cups.
- Victoria Day – FINALLY see “Captain America” at Cineplex that serves beer.
As you can see, the consistent theme for the weekend is “family”, and the drinking they cause. At least someone else will be behind the wheel, so I can imbibe with (relative) impunity.

It’s a 4-day weekend for me, and most schools had “professional days” today so the parents had to book a day off too.
Monday is Victoria Day, a statutory holiday.
