DFO Radio: Get Th(rowback W)ee(k) Behind Me

Greetings!  This week, we’re very excited to be celebrating our 2nd anniversary of online residence here at doorfliesopen.com.  But people forget that we’ve actually been producing material for 50 years now.  Our first introduction to the public was via the Communist Party of the USA, after they discovered their newsletters would sell much better if they added some filler content.  After ideological differences became apparent, we joined the ‘zine craze and kept chugging along.  We thought we’d joined the internet in 2004, but it wasn’t until two years ago we learned that what we thought was our blogspot account was actually just a password-protected document in Microsoft Word.  In celebration of these fifty years of writing, we’re declaring this to be THROWBACK WEEK where we’ll be digitizing and reposting some of our finest material from the early days.

But wait, there’s more!  At the end of the week, we’ll be celebrating CIRCLE JERK WEEKEND where the authors here share a pair of their favorite posts from the last two years of operation – one of their own, and one by a fellow writer.  You’ll be able to relive some of your favorite moments in the history of the site…wait, not YOUR favorite moments in the site – OURS.  Like I said, it’s CIRCLE JERK WEEKEND, BABY!

Speaking of weekends, I hope you had a good one.  I went to a nice dinner at one of LA’s fanciest restaurants, and then followed it up by collecting firewood from the side of the road (this is absolutely true).  Thee Wee Baby Seamus did a fantastic job covering Request Line last week with a topic of “putting it all behind you”, and you responded in kind.  Here’s the fruit of your labors, along with a Spotify link that should be a little more complete than in past weeks.  Enjoy!

A tad tardy (as always) but this playlist ALSO turned out very well. A little sad/slow at points but generally good music to get some work done to.

Usually for flashbacks of this high quality, you need some really hard drugs or to Tivo a lot of History Channel.
