I watched The Christmas Story with my dad for the first time around 30 years ago. He had turned me on to Jean Shepherd’s short stories when I was a kid in the 1960s (even let me read them in the original Playboy publications, he was a pretty cool dad, and didn’t check to see if I was skipping around to look at tiddays).
