My feeling is that it’s because the Republicans in this state run candidates who are either twice convicted felons, (hello Mr. Rowland!), or who read the room so well that they decide to run as Trump 2.0 in a blue state in 2018, like Bob Stefanowski did, thereby dropping an election to succeed a Democrat who may have been the least liked governor in our history.
Meanwhile the Democrats are beholden to unions and three cities, Hartford, New Haven, and Bridgeport, all of which are, if not failing, at least flailing, and all of which demand constant and massive infusions of money to no discernible result.
Also we have a pension fund that ran from the 30’s to the 70’s without the State contributing a dime. After that the State did start contributing, but only in the sense that “I owe you a dollar? Well, here’s .40. Next year I’ll pay you $1.60!”, and then ponying up .60 the next year.
I’m really looking forward to retiring to some southern state and eventually dying of ringworm.
