So far, it’s been a very fine weekend.

As opposed to The Weeknd, who is a very fine Canadian kid.

We have spent today’s social distancing getting the little things done around the house, to the point where there is no more anger in WineWife’s eyes when she emerges from certain rooms in the house. Plus, the entire time we have been sous vide-ing a brisket, which will go on the BBQ for 10 minutes at about 6:00PM PT. I am actually going to break out one of the Scotland trip bottles to enjoy alongside my meal.

I think the workweek looks a little grim because there isn’t the thrill of the four-day weekend to look forward to. After all, if you’re already spending every day indoors, what’s the excitement of doing it again when your calendar say, “Go forth; be free!” I will likely try to salvage the affair with more barbecue experimentation.

Maybe even show the neighbours.

Tonight’s … entertainment?:

Well, there’s night #2 of “Gronk presents Wrestlemania!”

Last night was a semi-enjoyable affair, as they are clearly trying to guess what will be popular going forward, which is the biggest loss to the live crowd. That usually helps both the matches & future planning. I will say the AJ Styles – Undertaker match greatly benefitted from the pre-taped aspect, as they don’t have to rely on a very old man (by wrestling standards) to carry a whole match in front of a live crowd.

The Undertaker at this point sounds & looks like Immortan Joe, so it was the best format to hide his apparent flaws while still utilizing his immense drawing power.

Other things:

  • Spy Wars with Damian Lewis – 8:00 PM | SMITH
    • Highlighting the Russian plot that lead to the 2010 spy exchange between the CIA and MI6.
  • ESPN 30 for 30:’85 Bears – 7:30PM | TSN2
    • Worth it just to both crush on Sweetness again, and remember why it’s perfectly okay to hate Mike Ditka for just beyond the obvious reasons.

before I sign off, I want to commend Mr. Ayo for the brilliant follow-ups to my Kaitlyn Jenner comment last night. A good effort being funny without being phobic. Well done.

I’m back in L.A., working remotely on my computer in Montreal, and yet I think I am going to call in sick tomorrow. Do I have the Corona virus? Do I have the cancer? Do I have the A.I.D.S.? I guess we won’t know until Tuesday.

Also HBO “Rome”. There would have been no Game of Thrones if not for this series:

If we are doing Amazon shows “Brittania” deserves a mention:

Cheers, brother!!

– I actually relayed the Kaitlyn Jenner comment to the Dr. Mrs. Deadly when she asked why I was laughing so hard. It is very, very rare that I do so. Maybe has happened a dozen times in the lifetime of this blog.

Unsurprised

More Amazon series:

The Americans
Good Girls Revolt
Orphan Black
Roseanne
Deadwood
Boardwalk Empire
Veep
PBS American Experience
Ken Burns: The National Parks – America’s Best Idea
The Mind of a Chef
30 Rock
Schitt’s Creek
Drunk History

These are bona fide. There are supposedly other good shows, but I vouch for these.

Dunstan

I will second The Americans and 30 Rock. I watched a season or two or Orphan Black and then put it aside for a while, but it wasn’t bad at all. Veep is obviously well-done but just isn’t my kind of humor, and Drunk History wore out its welcome for me after a couple of episodes. Can’t really comment on the others.

Deadwood and Schitt’s Creek have been on my list to try for a while.

Mr. Ayo

Try Schitt’s Creek first.

The Americans was so fucking good. Start to finish, it was magnificent.

Unsurprised

HBO added 500 movies yesterday to their streaming service
