Global Snaxx Edition 5 and I guess Saturday night open thread?!?

Good day to you all, hope you are safe, healthy and doing alright. The content monster was barking and it needed to be fed. Perfect time for another installment for Snaxx! Recently many DFOers have purchased snack boxes and now we have more things to talk about!

Salty Lime Gummy Candy –Thailand

These are pretty damn good. They are kinda like gummy ropes. You do not taste the salt at all which you would expect with it in the title. . I have no idea where I would find these but I certainly would buy them for a roadtrip, they are kinda refreshing and quite limey. I am pretty high right now and they hit the spot for the portion of “sweet” munchies. Would definitely purchase again if I could find them. 

Orenada – Mayonnaise Potato Chips – Columbia 

I will advise you that I hate mayonnaise, I am 100% in the Big Daddy Drew camp. That is only for straight up mayo, aioli that shit up with some garlic and I am fucking in. Upon opening, they just smell like plain potato chips, nothing off putting there. First surprise is that they are ripple, so that’s good. Wife and I both say they taste like regular potato chips, they are good but taste nothing like advertised. Yeah, so a let down for either being disgusted or discovering something new. I either want something repulsive so I can laugh at myself or something delicious that I can seek out again. Would not buy these again because they are like Flacco, and Eli in that they are just boring. 

Swiss Cheese Potato Chips. – Russia

The whole bag is written in Cyrillic which is a bad sign if I ever wanted to seek out a place to purchase them again as I got them in my monthly snack box. I like Swiss Cheese, I like potato chips so these should be fantastic. They taste very sweet, also described as “weird” by Mrs. Cola. Unlike Hippo who has an aversion to cheese I fucking love the stuff (nawt blue howevah) so you would think these would be what I like. They are a really strange flavoUr because they start of with sweet cheese and then end with salt. Very peculiar. I did not finish the bag and I had the munchies pretty good so that is saying something. Russians have it all wrong here as there is so much potential yet they are not delicious. 

In these international snack boxes I was gifted you get 7 snacks. They include candy, chocolate bar type thing, cookie, chips, etc. Well I have a tree nut allergy and apparently Russia really likes Hazelnuts because 5 of the 7 had hazelnuts in them. Mrs. Cola loves when I get these things and they are littered with tree nuts as then it is all hers. 

Trululu – Pinguinos – Columbia

Hell yeah,skiing and surfboarding gummy penguins! As we all know, skiing is huge in Columbia, big powder days all winter.  Perfect mix of salty and sweet as we just ate the Mayo chips and as you can guess, I am stoned.  It is sort of faux marshmallow on the bottom with only the beak and legs a gummy. They are way softer than what we are used to and are absolutely delicious. They are citrusy and they aren’t nearly as sweet as I thought that they would be. They do indeed look like penguins and are very manufactured. 

I would eat these again, they are quite pleasant and lighter than our normal gummi bears.

Z Roll Farm – Fried Shrimp with Salad Cream FlavoUr – Thailand

I really didn’t want to eat these. I fear what salad cream could be. They are extremely off putting. I have to say that they are exactly what they say they are. I honestly can’t hate them because they are absolutely disgusting, like warm, stale sushi. Mrs. Cola didn’t mind it either, but did not have a third try. This is one of the ones I bought and I knew that it would not agree with me. I do not think that it is because they taste fishy as I love seafood, it is that it tasted like fake fish. Years ago I worked at a resort hotel and they served pollock (imitation crab) on the buffet and the Taiwanese tourists believed it was crab and would house bowl after bowl of the stuff. They used to be on bus tours of the Rockies and come in for the lunch buffet. I am not lying to you that a regular occurrence was plates of food being shoveled into purses for the road. 

Would not buy again, but if this is your thing then they taste as advertised.

There is probably sports on tv but I have had no time to look up anything.

Tomorrow morning Mighty Whitey plays the White Lives Matter team (seriously they had a banner), there is also Man U v Liverpool so that will still be fun. Then praise GAMBLOR, BLEERGH, SHANK’LOR, AND OUR MATRON SAINT!
